Contract

With 20 years of interface development experience including 13 years in games and 8 in leadership, I offer contracting services as a game experience strategist, developer, programmer, designer, and leader.

I’ve contributed to major franchises like Killzone, Battlefield, Star Wars, and played a key role in shipping the BAFTA-winning Horizon Zero Dawn.

Whether joining a team on the ground to push a project across the finish line or helping refine design and UX direction, I bring hands-on expertise in building, leading, and delivering great games.

“Ahmed is an exceptional leader, developer and inspirational figure. He is a rare profile that combines technical prowess, analytical design thinking and an incredible eye for aesthetic. Time and time again he amazed me with his thoughtful output and at the speed he produced it. How his team looked up to him and how he always managed to inspire UX professionals not only within his company but on a global scale.

Ahmed’s skill and ability to deliver is world class. He lives and breathes video games and at the heart of it all a kind man with lots to teach and inspire those around him, myself included.

It was a true privilege to ship so many games with him and I would jump on the opportunity to do so again as soon as I can.”

Deep Dive

In October 2023, I spent five days onsite at Ubisoft Singapore for an in-depth creative sprint - deep dive into Skull & Bones.

The week was focused on interviewing staff, analysing the player experience, engagement loops through a series of lenses like information architecture, information density, navigation model and usability followed by identifying potential areas for focus and refinement.

The deep dive culminated in a presentation to the core leadership team, where I outlined a short, mid, and long-term plan to enhance the player experience and design direction.

To ensure actionable next steps, all insights, recommendations, and strategic proposals were compiled into a detailed report, submitted at the end of the week (during the flight home) for reference, and implementation.

“Ahmed's visit to the Singapore studio was a breath of fresh air for our team. In a short time, he brought together all UI/UX stakeholders, fostering a shared understanding of our objectives. He also outlined a high-level roadmap for incremental improvements to the UI/UX quality in Skull & Bones.”

workshops

I have extensive experience in running creative workshops that help teams expand their design thinking, and refine their user experience direction. These sessions are designed to unlock fresh perspectives, align teams on player-centric goals, and spark innovative solutions.

I’ve facilitated workshops with Ubisoft Abu Dhabi, the full Rainbow Six Siege experience team, for the public at Gamescom, as well as with creative designers across Ubisoft’s global studios through Ubisoft Lux Live.

Each workshop is tailored to the team’s needs, blending structured frameworks with dynamic, hands-on exercises to ensure impactful results.

Workshops include amongst others; Interface Types, Abstract Interface Contexts, Red Routes, Prototyping Focus and typically take one or two full days to facilitate.

“I loved the structure you provided for different UIs—the four-dimensional scale helped form a holistic view of the complete user journey. The workshop teams were supervised by you in the most effective way. I especially appreciated the pace and timing, which I found to be optimal.

I hope you’ll be back for a second round—I’m looking forward to learning from you again! In my opinion, your workshop was by far the most effective and useful our studio has seen in years. This proves the value of the many learning and sharing opportunities available within the Ubisoft Global team.”

Olga Lazareva

Managing Director - Ubisoft Abu Dhabi

“I have joined Ahmed's workshop during this year's Devcom'24.

Ahmed’s workshop was just the right mix of theory and exercise for the participants, very well suited for the format of the Devcom. Despite being familiar with the high-level content of the workshop through his former talks, I also learned some new perspectives and had practical take-aways for my team and myself. Overall, a really great workshop with on-point and useful content.”
